Phenomenal Cosmic Power!

Saw a billboard for a solar company today. Their slogan was "PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!"

Apparently, they don't think that people know what the other half of that phrase is. I think I'll skip their solar panels. I'm not so interested in the Itty Bitty Living Space that comes with the phenomenal cosmic power.

Crickets, Anyone?

Somebody brought a protein bar into work that was made from crickets. I had myself a bite. It wasn't terrible. It was a little weird when I crunched into a big peanut, before I realized it was a peanut. I think we talked about eating weird stuff (like crickets) on the show once...I want to say it was one of those 13 Nights of Halloween episodes...Anyway, anyone else eaten weird stuff? What is the weirdest thing you've eaten?

New Phone Needs New Music

We handed my wife's old iPhone down to my 12-year-old daughter. So, my daughter said that she needed new music on her phone, all she had was lame stuff like Mumford and Sons. I asked her what she wanted instead, and she said, "AC/DC, Metalllica, and Black Sabbath."

I can't decide if I should be proud or afraid.

I Can Do This

I can do this, really, I'm good enough. I'm as good as them, but don't take it from me.
Ask my friends, ask my sister. They all think my stuff is great, Up there with any of them. I just need a break.
I'm a genius, really, I'm excellent. Better than them, I kick their asses.
All of them, even that guy who thinks he's fuckin' cool. Gets all of the attention. He doesn't sell shit does he.
Some guy on the net thinks I suck and he should know he's got his own blog.
I'm a loser. I'm a poser. Yeah really, It's over. I mean it and I quit. Everything I write is shit.
Hey, hey, It's a working day.

This song makes me laugh. It sounds like me trying to convince myself that I'm a real author.

Dunesteef Episode 180: TWSC – Greetings From The Ninth Sector by Rish Outfield

What a strange trip it’s been. And speaking of strange trips, we bring you the final winning entry in the Triple Word Score Contest, “Greetings from the Ninth Sector.” Corporal Bruce Otterson sends home a message each day as the ship he’s on travels where very few men have gone before . . . for a reason.

Afterword, surprise, Rish and I talk about the story! And give special thanks to Sonny See for his unusual production of the story.

Special thanks to Sonny See and Josh Roseman for lending their voices, and to Sonny See for producing the story as well as the art, and the awesome YouTube video for that matter.

Alright, if you want to check out this episode, go listen to it on the main Dunesteef podcast feed—(EDIT: Now that the feed is gone, the only way to hear the show is over on the Dunesteef Podcast YouTube page, which I am embedding below).

Gothic Gotham?

If Batman dresses in all black, and protects a city called Gotham, does that make him a Goth?

Adding To The Ship Collection

Got a new darling to hang on my ceiling. There's really only one more ship left that I have to have now.

Look at this beauty. Best part is, it's actually a Yahtzee game.

For The Birds

I suppose Pixar copied Chevron's anthropomorphic cars, so it should be fair game for Chevron to copy Pixar's bids on a wire...right down to the one big bird in the middle weighing the wire down. I bet if you could turn up the audio on the picture, you would hear the bastard little birds making fun of the big oafish one. Speaking as a big oafish guy, Eff those birds.

Look Out Below

This is crazy video. When I saw it, my response was, "Holy crap!"

Thunderstruck

Can't remember the last time I saw a snowstorm complete with thunder and lightning. Pretty crazy.

Classic Not-Rock

There's a new radio station in town that plays classic hip-hop and R&B. It's a classic not-rock station. It's the first of these stations that I've ever seen, but I live in white bread central. They're probably very prevalent everywhere else in the country. Anyway, my point with all this was to talk about their playlist. I almost never hear artists that I actually consider Classic. Instead it's guys from right around the year 2000. Hell, those guys are barely not new anymore. I suppose this means I'm really old right?

SSDD

Day three of this crap. No wonder a lot of people get that seasonal affective disorder around here. It's making me sad too.

Be The Hero

Somebody posted this, and I thought I should share it. Sounds a lot like the inspirational stuff I always put on the Anklecast.

V-Day Googles

This is kind of interesting.

At least I don't live where plus-size lingerie or JCPenny Portraits are the most frequently googled gift. Or worse, cheap sex toys or couples tattoos.

Grimdark II

Looks like it's SSDD today.

The Muggles Awaken

They announced a sequel to Harry Potter.

The best comment I heard about this was from someone at work, "They'll probably just have to blow up ANOTHER Death Star..."

Vote For Wade

Okay, so we talk about it in the most recent TGMG, but I'm going to throw this out here for a fan vote. Rish Outfield doesn't want to see the new Deadpool movie coming out this week. I'd like to see it, but doesn't want to. He had some kind of a bad experience. What happened you ask? HE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE! Anyway, he's all negative about this film for some reason. He did, however, say that he would consider seeing the film if enough of the listeners wanted to hear an episode about it with his take on the movie, you know, one of them TGMG things we do. Keep in mind that he'll probably have all sorts of negative things to say, just because he's going in with a bad attitude to start with, but, if you'd like to hear Rish and I talk about what we thought of the Deadpool movie for our next TGMG, comment over on Facebook, and encourage Rish.

Grimdark

Little ugly and grim this morning. Yeah, that slightly bright spot in the sky is the sun.

TGMG 170: The Force Can Be Bad Too

New TGMG available.

So, here's our (hopefully) final episode discussing THE FORCE AWAKENS. I know it's a long time coming.

And don't forget, we desperately need donations to help us replace our equipment (this Artoo unit has a bad motivator, look!).

Thanks everybody. Check it out on the feed, or just download the episode right HERE. You can even just press the play button below and you don't even have to go anywhere to listen!

Logo?

Was thinking of making one of these a new...secondary...logo for the Dunesteef. Which do you like better?

Puppy...Monkey...Baby

Anyone know where I can get one of those Puppy-Monkey-Babies for a pet? Do they have those at the Humane Society?

I guess not, they'd have to change their name to the Inhumane Society if they did.

Growing Collection For A Growing Boy

My son is getting to have quite a collection of superhero guys. His latest additions were Batman, Robin, and the Joker, as well as that big Hulkbuster (which was selling for $45 when it was full price, but we got for $11 on clearance after Christmas). He got those for his birthday the other day. I like them. They're pretty cool.

I'm gonna make sure to save all of them that I can for him. I wish I'd saved my toys from my youth.

Trailer

There was this fakey Storm Trooper-like space armor for sale at the dollar store back in November, and my wife grabbed a set of it for my son as a stocking stuffer. I like it though. It's sort of lit my Cosplay/art director/filmmaker side afire. I've decided to make a trailer for a movie starring my Four year old (which will be all there is. No actual film to follow). I've invented some characters a few small scenes, and so on to put in the trailer. Im pretty excited to see what we can manage. This is the space armor.

When I get the costume further along, I'll post more pics.

Maybe I Need To Get Off Facebook

I saw this comic, and it really spoke to me.

Maybe I need to make some changes.

Creative Display

I might need to do this at home...

A Special Valentine's Day Message

Maybe we all need to consider this tidbit...

Happy Family

Kids grow up. Here's what the Solo family looked like in 16 ABY.

Sad that they couldn't keep it together a little better. Those trilogies led me to believe that those two might be a little more capable than most, but I guess...

Coming Soon!

The next episode of the Dunesteef and the very last of the TWSCs. Get ready for "Greetings from the Ninth Sector" by Rish Outfield. And enjoy this amazing bit of animation made by a Mr. Sonny See.

TGMG 169: The Force Is Good

New episode of That Gets My Goat up!

"...she learned about death through THE FORCE AWAKENS."

Rish and I talk about positive aspects of the new Star Wars movie. Hilarity ensues, or your money back.

Listener warning: Profanity. Mention of Prequels. Rish's ignorance of sports. More profanity.

Oh, and feel free to donate to the show, so we can get new/more reliable equipment, and actually put shows out again.

Find the show on your TGMG feed or right-click HERE to download the episode. Or, jeez, let me make it as easy as possible, just click the play button below and listen now.

Rehabilitated

My son got a Joker figure for his birthday. He tells me that Joker is not a clown, because he doesn't have a red nose. Also, Joker is no longer a bad guy, because Batman, Iron Man, and the other heroes taught him to be nice.

Three And Up?

My son got a Star Wars paper model-making kit for his birthday from his grandma.

It says ages three and up, but I could barely manage it. It took me the last two hours to put this R2-D2 together. And it's a friggin miracle that I didn't just crumble the whole damn thing into a ball and chuck it. I might cool down by some time this weekend.

Variation On A Theme

This is the best variation on this theme I've ever seen.

Afraid Of The Dark

I discovered something interesting today. My eyes are only bad when the lighting is dim. I've had my blinds up on my window at work for the last few days, and I haven't needed the glasses at all. So, I'm only old in the dark.
