Mind If We Call You Bruce To Keep It Straight?

I got this hat from Costco to use hiking. What do you think, Bruce?

The First Weekend Of Summer

It was the first weekend of the summer, and we did a lot of fun stuff. We could send the kids back to school again right now, and they'd have plenty to write about in their "what I did this summer" essays.

For example, my oldest son went camping twice. Once with his friends to a nearby reservoir to go fishing.

And a second time with the boy scouts to Goblin Valley in southern Utah.

My wife took the other kids to the community pool. One of my kids went to one of those trampoline places for a birthday party. While they waited, my wife took the other kids up the canyon to a waterfall just off the road for a picnic.

The next day, I took the a few of the other kids down to the river for some fishing. We didn't catch anything. I spent pretty much the entire time trying to untangle fishing lines that the kids had tangled up. That turned out not to be a whole lot of fun.

When I got home from our fishing debacle, all I wanted to do was go out back, and lay around in our hammock, enjoying the warm day and the cool breeze.

Monday afternoon, my wife went to the store and bought some barbecue fixings. We went out in the back yard and cooked up some hamburgers and hot dogs.

And yes, that one hot dog that is lighter than the rest was my daughter's vegetarian hot dog. She wanted to fit in with us...but not that much.

Then we spent the last of the holiday weekend sliding down our new slip 'n' slide that my wife picked up from the store.

What a weekend. And there's a lot more in store, from family reunions, to camping at some national parks, to vacations to Canada, we've got some plans. It's going to be a fun summer.

The Universe Is Against Me

I've been in the doldrums for so long, and I just couldn't find my way out. I've been too tired when I get up in the morning to do anything other than go back to sleep for a while longer.

At last, I got to bed early last night, and got out of bed early enough to exercise! I felt so good afterward, super energized. I made myself a really healthy breakfast, and entered every bit of it into the MyFitnessPal app. I was feeling good. I got in the car and headed to work.

When I walked in the door, right in front of me was full-on spread. They went to the good place, and got about five dozen of them. Donuts...

Get In Uniform, Private!

My wife got me this purple golf shirt at Costco a few weeks ago. She really liked how it looked on me, so when she went back to Costco this weekend, and found the shirts on sale, she got me the grey one too. I wore it today for the first time. I was pretty surprised when I showed up to meet with Rish tonight to find him wearing the exact same shirt for his first time too.

I guess it's the new Dunesteef uniform.

Cosplay

My wife got a box from Amazon today. My son decided he wanted it to be his robot head. He is always talking about 080-T, and he wanted to make an 080-T costume. So, I decided to try to be a good dad today. Here's the result.

M1L34G3

I got into my car the other day, and noticed that my odometer told me that my mileage was right at that magic number. My favorite number...

...at least favorite in the 80,000's.

Gluttony

Continuing our conversation from last time, we try to hit on every single possible TV show that comic book fans might be interested in. I'm sure we failed miserably at that as much as we do at everything else, but there should be something in there that might possibly kinda interest you.

When Did Motley Crue Become Classic Rock?

Someone at work said...let me amend that...some kid at work said, "I had an '80s song stuck in my head today, and it made me think of you." So, is that a good thing? Or a bad thing?

Dunesteef Episode 181: Hope On The Rocks by AW Gifford

Joel’s luck has gone south. He’s lost his job, his marriage has dissolved, and his truck crashed and his dog died…wait a minute, sorry, scratch those last two. This isn’t a country song, it’s a short story. Anyway, Joel has been pushed to the limit, and he’s thinking of giving up, unless something can change his luck…

Afterward, Rish and I have an announcement to make about the future of the podcast. What changes might be in store, find out on the Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine!

Special thanks to Gino Moretto, Barry Haworth, Bria Burton and Marshal Latham for lending their voices.

Alright, if you want to check out this episode, go listen to it on the main Dunesteef podcast feed—(EDIT: Now that the feed is gone, the only way to hear the show is over on the Dunesteef Podcast YouTube page, which I am embedding below).

Staring Too Long

I was making the art for the next episode. I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but when dealing with titles over pictures, the more you mess with them, the more things look wrong. Pretty soon, I was thinking that words like Hope and By weren't actually spelled that way. That I'd spelled them wrong. How do you really spell hope...is it hoap? And by must actually be bye, right?

Great Scott!

Had this video on my computer, and the size stood out to me for some reason...

1.21 gigabytes! 1.21 gigabytes. Great Scott!

Hard Core

If my twelve-year-old daughter listens to Slayer, does that mean that kids today are more badass than they used to be, or just that she is?

Druggee

After my doctor appointment on Friday, I've become quite the drug addict. I'm popping five pills every morning now. Yeah baby!
