The Elephant In The Room (Part One)

Just to let you know, my story "The Elephant in the Room" is beginning to run over on The Anklecast. The first part of it was just posted on Patreon at a couple minutes before midnight last night. I managed to get it in just before the month came to an end. December can be crazy.

This is the story of a kid named Louis. Louis trips and falls while trying to get ready for school in the morning. Instead of just hitting the carpet, he lands on something that until that moment was invisible to his eyes. It's an alien egg. Where did it come from? What is it doing here? Why can't anybody else see it? The answers will change his life forever.

If you want to start listening right away, you can find it on Patreon. To become a member of the Patreon group, just follow this link over. Or any of the other links. I try to make sure you have plenty of links to click on. I wouldn't want you to have to hunt for too long to find one. I'll see you over there!

November Anklecast Up on Patreon

I got sick a little over a week ago, and lost my voice. I expected that it would come back, but here we are, the last day of November, and still no voice. I had to give up and put out an abbreviated episode of The Anklecast in which I present this month's story, but do almost nothing else.

I make sure to never miss my episode for my Patrons, even if unforeseen complications arise. So, the story is there, but I spared you the pain of listening to my scratchy voice as I struggled my way through a long post-episode chat with Rish Outfield. Instead, I just give you the story and get out. Hopefully, you like it. And, if you're not a member of the Patreon group, I'd really love it if you joined us. You can jump on board for as little as $1 per month. When adjusted for inflation, that's the price of a single piece of gum from the machines at the grocery store entrance when you were a kid, so you could definitely swing it. Come on over and join us! The cat will be waiting for you there...

Patreon Address for November

We're well into November, so it's past time for another Patreon address. After the fiasco of what happened with archive.org, I've decided to put this one onto the normal feed again so that people who don't subscribe to Patreon will know that it exists, but this will be the last time. Next time around, this will be a total Patreon exclusive. Check it out!

I talk about my most recent project which I just finished recently, and update you on my progress on my goals. And you can cheer me on in my quest to become someone who makes an actual living writing books.

As always, thanks to Kevin McCleod at incompetech.com for the music.

You can find the episode on the podcast feed, or right-click HERE to download the episode. You can just as easily just push the play button on the embedded player below, and listen right here and now. Enjoy!

Anklecast 72 - The Frayed Ends of Sanity Available On Patreon

The new episode of The Anklecast is now available over on Patreon. If you are a member, then you can check it out. If you're not a member, you should consider it. It may be a long time before the new episodes are available on the free feed. I host those files on archive.org, and they were attacked by hackers a while back. They are most of the way back, but uploads aren't allowed yet, and I have no idea when they will be again. Until that happens, Patreon will be the only place you can get The Anklecast. So, you know, it would be the perfect time to take that plunge and sign up.

This time, we have the story of Greg, who is going through a nasty divorce, which is the worst thing happening in his life...until the day when his phone starts ringing and whatever is on the other end of the line has the power to take over his mind and drive him toward thoughts he's never entertained before. How far will the mystery caller take it? You can only find out by listening to the end of "The Frayed Ends of Sanity."

Afterward, Rish and I talk about Metallica song titles, Broken Mirror events, and doing things differently for a change.

Head over to Patreon, and give it a listen. You won't want to miss it!

My First Patreon Address

I just put up my first Patreon Address over on Patreon.

It's my first time doing this. Rish Outfield and Marshal Latham have been doing them for a while and I thought I ought to take their example and make a Patreon Address as well. In this, I talk about my goals for the year, month, and even day that I have set for myself, and how well I have achieved them. If that kind of stuff interests you, then check it out and see how it's going.

I'll put this first one onto the normal feed in a week so that people who don't subscribe to Patreon will know that it exists, but next time around, this will be a total Patreon exclusive.

As always, thanks to Kevin McCleod at incompetech.com for the music.

Check it out over on Patron!

To go along with it, I figure I ought to post my charts for the last month to give you a visual guide that you can follow along with while listening, if you want to. Here's my September writing totals:

Here's the total for the year to date:

Here's the charts for the year to date...I suspect you'll have to zoom in on those to see what anything on them says, but then again, maybe your eyes aren't as bad as mine have become in the last few years.

Maybe those pics were unnecessary, but I figured I'd include them if for nothing else than that I like to have records of everything on the blog for my future curiosity. Every now and then I like to go back and refresh my memory about when and how these things improved and so forth.

Anklecast 71 - Undo (Part Two) Available On Patreon

I just published the next episode of The Anklecast over on Patreon. If you are a member, then you can check it out. If you're not a member, you should consider it. I'd love it if you joined, and you get access to every episode of the Anklecast a week earlier.

Rish Outfield finishes his reading of "Undo", a new story that I just published a little over a month ago. It's a pretty dark story yet, but hopefully it has a message for you in there. It's the story of a kid in high school who happens upon a stopwatch with an unusual feature. If you push a certain button, the stopwatch skips back one minute...and so does everything else. What would you do if you had the ability to go back a minute in time any time you wanted to?

Head over to Patreon, and you can listen to the story now. You won't want to miss it or even wait until it hits the regular feed, I bet.

Anklecast 70 - Undo (Part One) Available On Patreon

I just published the next episode of The Anklecast over on Patreon. If you are a member, then you can check it out. If you're not a member, you should consider it. I'd really appreciate it anyway.

The podcast includes a special reading of Undo, a new story that I just published a few weeks ago. It may well be my darkest story yet.

It's read by a special guest narrator. You won't want to miss it or even wait until it hits the regular feed, I bet.

Anklecast 69 Available On Patreon

Okay, folks, it's been a crazy month, so I don't have a normal podcast for you. Today's episode doesn't have a story...at least, not a fictional story written by B.D. Anklevich...instead, it has the story of my dealing with Hurricane Beryl this month. Hopefully, that's story enough to entertain you until next month, which promises to be a little less busy. Thanks, folks. Hope you enjoy.

Anklecast 68: Queen Bea Available On Patreon

Okay folks, the moment you've been waiting for has arrived! The new episode of The Anklecast is up on Patreon!

Monty and his friends have always had a lot of fun out in the woods playing near the clubhouse they built, but one day, things change substantially when Bea asks them to catch a butterfly, but they get something else instead...

Afterward, Rish and I talk about framing devices, romanticizing a certain time period, and...how to use a phone while time traveling?

Check it out. You can become a member of my Patreon for only a buck a month, so it's super reasonable. You spend more than that on new skins for your Fortnite characters each week, so it surely wouldn't bankrupt you or anything, but it would be super appreciated by this struggling artist. Come on over and join us!

Anklecast 67: Something Out There Available On Patreon

The new episode of the Anklecast is now up on Patreon!

Jean-Paul has spent his life rehabilitating and tending to the few plants left on the surface of the Earth. The planet is mostly dead after the nuclear holocaust that his ancestors released on us all. Then one day while on the surface, Jean-Paul saw movement out of the corner of his eye. It wasn't the wind, there was something out there...

Afterward, Rish and Big talk about several things, from old ideas Big had in his youth to their experiences in film school.

Anklecast 66: Euthanasia Is Available on Patreon

The newest episode of the Anklecast is now up on the Patreon feed. It's pretty cheap to become a member over there. You can get early access to all the shows for as little as $1 per month. If you're not a member, you should consider checking it out.

It's the story of Trent and Brent, who were two children with rhyming names but vastly different life paths to travel. Brent was brilliant, a boy genius, destined to do something amazing, Trent was average and prone to mischief that would eventually lead him down a dark path of suffering and regret. Their paths would cross again, however, and when they did, Brent would be the one who didn't get it and Trent would be the one with the plan...

Afterward, Rish and I talk about whether certain things should be allowed in stories for entertainment or not. We also talk about our adventures in publishing, and let you know what's available now. Enjoy this if you can, and mind the trigger warning.

And, this week you'll be able to hear Rish Outfield, Jonathan Wilson. Tena Kolokowski, and Wendy Wilson contribute their voices to the mix!

Anklecast 65 - Servants of the Master Up on Patreon

Okay, the new episode is up and available on Patreon.

In the story, Jerome and Kirk embark on a mission to save their loved ones from vampires. They venture into their sanctuary and attack them where they live...and they were armed with expert advice from the one and only Johnny Staker, YouTube star and legendary vampire hunter.

Afterward, Rish and I talk about vampire tropes and their use in media, working on author-ly activities, and getting feedback. Enjoy the show!

As always, thanks to Kevin McCleod at incompetech.com for the music.

So, head over to Patreon and check it out. If you're not a member of the Patreon yet, you can join for as little as $1.

Karma Is My Boyfriend Part Two Available On Patreon

I know you've all been on pins and needles for the weeks that it's been since you heard part one of my story, "Karma Is My Boyfriend." Well, the wait is finally over. The second half of the story is here, and it's now available to listen to over at my Patreon.

If you're not a member yet, don't fret, there's still time to join the ranks of the best Patreon group since the advent of the site. You can join for as little as $1 a month, and get access to every episode a whole week before the regular public does. Not only that, but you get the satisfaction of knowing that your support has made these episodes possible and if it weren't for you, the show would come to a grinding halt as Big is overcome by depression from all the constant rejection he receives.

Can't wait to see you over on Patreon.

Karma Is My Boyfriend (Part One) On Patreon

Late last night, I managed to post my newest episode of The Anklecast on Patreon for the supporters there. You should head over to Patreon and join in the fun, and check out episode. It's a good story that's fun to listen to, and then Rish and I and Announcer Man continue the good times of the Dunesteef on into the new decade. If you liked the Dunesteef, you'd like the recent Anklecast episodes from the last few years as well, because they're basically the Dunesteef continued. Hope to see you there.

I probably ought to make a new profile picture for over on Patreon. That's still the fat bearded me. That guy is gone now.

Anklecast 62 - Klaus Kringle on Patreon

Anklecast 62 is now available on Patreon. It wasn't supposed to be a Christmas episode this month, but I knew I wasn't going to have time to do something else, so here it is. I'm presenting my novella, "Klaus Kringle." It's a pretty good story about a single dad who is having a hard time with his new responsibilities and growing to resent his son, but then everything changes, and suddenly, his priorities in life do as well.

If you're interested, head over to Patreon and check it out. I probably won't make people wait as long as usual for this episode to hit the regular feed, but most months, you get the episode a week sooner than everyone else, so it's an awesome exclusive club that you're a member of, and it makes you way better than everyone else who isn't a true fan at all but just a poser.

November's Anklecast Is Up On Patreon

I just published my November episode of the Anklecast over on Patreon. You should check it out. It's a fun Christmas story about a woman who gets a letter in the mail, only it arrives a little later than it was intended...however that might have turned out to be perfect...or maybe it will actually be her worst nightmare.

A good time will be had by all.

Anklecast 58 - Do Over (Part Three) Available on Patreon

Episode three of my novella, Do Over, is now available over on Patreon. Joel and Jillian take a big step together as Joel changes his past to a future that he wants to live in. At the end of last episode, Joel caught Jillian snorting heroin, and now he has to deal with that problem...but it's only the beginning of the problems he will have to deal with. Jump in and enjoy the next installment of Do Over on The Anklecast.

Afterward, Rish and I review the comments that we received from listeners who said what they would like to have changed in their past if they got the opportunity to zig rather than zag. Then we add a few more examples of our own. Enjoy!

Anklecast 57 - Do Over (Part Two) on Patreon

Hey folks, the next episode is up on Patreon. You ought to join the cool kids club over on Patreon so that you can hear it earlier than the rest. It really makes you feel superior to those lowly non-Patreon supporters. Try it. It's nice. It makes you feel like this:

Definitely give it a shot. Anyway, you can find the show by following THIS LINK...or just wait a while, and it will be eventually released to all the hoi polloi.
