The Rebirth Of Spring

I figured that I could do no better for an Easter post than to show you the wildflowers that I saw yesterday when I went for a walk...the first walk that I've gone on this year, and, in particular, the first since Marshal and I started the Road to 50 Challenge. It was really pleasant, and it made me wonder why I haven't been doing this all along.

What I saw mostly were these tickseed flowers.

I kept trying to get a picture that would communicate just how abundant the flowers were. This next one is the best I could do.

They just covered the slopes leading down to the canal.

The next thing I found were the Pink Evening Primroses. They are usually one of the most plentiful flowers out there, and while they are quite prevalent on the roadsides, there weren't as many as usual by the canal.

That was most of what I saw. I did get to see a couple of Indian Blanket flowers.

And these itty-bitty baby's breath-like flowers that I think are called fleabane.

And, something that I always find interesting, these thistle flowers.

I think of those as being desert flowers, so it always seems strange to me to find them in such a rain-drenched, humid environment as Houston, but I guess they're just fine, because I saw plenty of them.

So, that was my Easter post for you. The wildflowers are back, the world is turning green again, and we can finally be happy again.

Oh, one other thing, you wouldn't believe who I ran into while I was out...well, actually, maybe you will, because it makes perfect sense. That's right, I found the Easter bunny out hiding the eggs for the kids.

Navigating the Pitfalls, and Rededicating Himself - Road to 55 Challenge: Marshal's First Update

Marshal has been doing this challenge with me this whole time as well, but we haven't heard from him yet. How is it going with him? Is he managing to stick to the program? Or does he need to pull it together and rededicate himself to the task at hand? Marshal gives us an update. Enjoy.

Tempting?

They put these out at work, and I rejoiced. At last a temptation I can resist.

Anklecast 53 - Sepia Tone Prison (Part 2)

The new episode of the Anklecast is up. I just posted it on Patreon. It has the second half of "Sepia Tone Prison."

If you're not a patron, You can wait until it shows up on the regular feed in a week or so, or you can come over to Patreon, join for as little as a dollar a month, and get the episode now. You make the call!

You could think of it as a way to toss me a tip for my work in producing the episode for you to listen to. A dollar a month ain't much. You'd never miss it, but I would appreciate it.

Now, since I brought it up. Here's a whole segment of NFL Films about "You Make the Call."

A Clearance Cougar

Here's another one of those things that I was willing to buy if it got low enough on clearance. They had been asking $40 for this thing originally. I got it for...

Pretty great.

I'm planning on repainting it and using it as the mount for my Christmas witch.

I think maybe I paint the fur white. I probably dump the head armor piece, but keep the saddle. And I was thinking of painting the saddle with red and white stripes. I'll post pictures after I paint it. For now, the cat is in going in the Christmas box, and I'll get to it eventually.

Another Failure, How Do I Turn It Around? Road To 50 Challenge: Update 2

After my original failure, I managed to get back on the wagon after only one day...a record for me. Usually it takes me months.

A few days later, however, I fell to my cravings again. I still managed to get back at it, but this time it took two days.

Two days is nothing, and would be a record as well, if it hadn't been for the one day fix earlier in the week. The problem is that I really need to stop the failures. If for nothing else, I can't keep switching from ketogenic back to sugar-burning and back to ketogenic again. It's tough on the body and the mind.

So, it's time to put a stop to it. I'm making a goal to go BBBE the full seven days and earn an extra point. I don't care that Easter is this week. I've got to fix myself now. If I don't, I'll need to be resurrected too.

So, I'm going for it now, and by Wednesday of next week, I'll have earned back one point toward removing my failure.

More Skull Face Squad

I've been gathering skull-faced action figures to put up at Halloween time for more than a year, and my latest addition has arrived. Behold, Skelegod:

Whoops, that picture isn't what I hoped it would be. Maybe I need to move the camera to someplace with more light. Let me try again.

This is the Skeletor from the Netflix series that came out last year or actually I think it was the year before. Anyways, the series itself didn't interest me much, but this figure, which they wanted tons of money for, was kind of interesting due to its skull face and unusual looks. He could definitely fit in with my skull face crew, and there's none of the baggage of him being that standard Skeletor, which would make him stand out of the crowd.

It finally went on sale, all the way down to $8.50, so I grabbed me one to add to the squad.

So, I guess this is another preview for the Halloween decorations that are to come...months from now anyway. It's a long time to wait for all of these new figures I get to put up.
