Greetings, Earthling!

Anybody think it's weird when people greet each other by saying, "How's it going?" and the other person responds by saying, "What's up?" or "How're you doing?" or whatever? A question about your condition is responded to with another question about the other person's condition, and then neither person answers. They just go their way as though each had said "Hi," instead. Kind of weird, but that's language for you. It gets pretty weird.
