Saddle Up

At Target, I found a Masters of the Universe Origins Battle Cat on sale for $7.50. I already have one, though, that I bought months and months ago at full price.

A few weeks ago, I had the idea that maybe I could create some kind of a cool mount for a figure to ride on my Christmas shelf. The idea was based on the picture I saw of an Acid Rain mount called a Snow Gugee.

It's really fun, but there's no way I'm buying one. It'll cost me $135 to buy it, and I really don't have that kind of money. I've got $7.50 though. So, my idea is to take that Battle Cat, and convert it into something similar to this.

At Halloween time, I'm gonna get me a cheap white wig, or maybe I'll just get some white fur from the fabric store, and glue it onto the thing in strips until I have something similar to what you can see there in that picture. Maybe I can get some kind of horns from a cheap barnyard toy set or something. Should be fun.

Also, I've got a cool saddle that came with the Battle Cat. I think I might paint it a different color and put it on the polar bear that my Mythic Legions figure rides at Christmas time.

I've meant to make a saddle for it for a while, but maybe this is the better route.

It's a little small, though. When I push it, it fits on the back perfectly, but the plastic is really rigid, so it pops back to its old shape. Gonna need to hit it with the heat gun to see if I can get it to stay in the new shape.

The 30-Day Carnivore Challenge Is Over, Marshal And I Do A Debrief On The Effects Of Eating Meat

We made it to the end, but it's not over. I'm not quitting this, so I start in with report videos about the days since the challenge ended, then after that, Marshal and I both talk about just what happened to us as a result of eating meat and meat alone for 30 Days. I'll tell you this as a teaser, my diabetes is doing much better. Watch the video for the details.

Out Of Scale

I saw this Space Jam figure on for cheap at Ross, and I thought he'd be a cool addition to my very own Rotgut Station.

I never saw the movie, but I guess this is supposed to be LeBron James as Morpheus from The Matrix. It's kind of fun, and no one would likely guess that it's a Space Jam toy, especially in a few years when the movie is completely forgotten.

I looked at it, and thought it should be fine. The figure wasn't six inch scale (or 1/12 as they call it). It looked small enough to be the same scale as GI Joe, Star Wars, and the other figures that I'm planning to put on my Ankletown Station.

So, I bought it, took it to my car, ripped open the package and threw it away. Then I went to Five Below, which was right next door, and looked inside. They had a couple of Star Wars figures there for super cheap, so I thought I'd get them to add to my station as well. DJ from The Last Jedi and Princess Leia from The Empire Strikes Back joined the denizens of Ankletown Station.

When I put those figures down next to LeBron, however, I noticed a problem.

I know LeBron is a basketball player, so he's gonna be taller than a regular guy, but this is a little much. Unless DJ and Leia are hobbits, then something isn't right in the scale. He looks like Andre the Giant next to the others.

Crap, why did I rip the package up and throw it away? I need to return this guy, but I think I'm too late for that. I guess maybe I could sell him on eBay. Or I could also pop his head off and make TikTok videos with it. I think those are my two options.

Wait! There may be a third option. Rish suggested that I pop the head off, and put some kind of alien head on in its place, then it won't be so weird that it's larger, because it's not human. It could just be a large alien. That's not a bad idea. I think that'll have to be the way I take it. Now I just need to figure out what will be it's alien head.

Looking online, I saw a guy who goes by the name Utinniii post a custom version of a Final Faction guy on the Rebel Scum message board.

That's one of those alien backpack accessories repurposed into a head.

Maybe that's the way I could go. I guess it's better than it going to waste. We'll see how it goes.

True Colors

In an earlier post, I talked about how I was trying to get three Halo figures wearing the three colors of the American flag to do as a Fourth of July decoration. But then I talked about how I was afraid that I'd ruined my Scarlett Johansen head by putting streaks in her hair with a Sharpie.

I just really hated the way it looked. And there was no getting it off either. Sharpies don't wipe away, they're permanent ink.

So, I had a new idea of what to do with her head. These Halo figures are twelve inches tall, know what else is? Barbies! I decided to try putting a Barbie head on instead, and to tell you the truth, I really like it.

Has Barbie ever looked so badass?

Well, that solved the head problem, but I still had to get me a figure in red armor, because the thing wouldn't work if it wasn't red, white, and blue.

Well, every time I went anywhere that had these figures, I checked for a red one. I always only found other white or blue ones...not to mention the green Master Chief ones. They were the most common.

I looked on eBay, but everyone wanted at least double the original price of the things for a red one. This was supposed to be a cheap thing, though adding new heads was making it more expensive.

Then, out of the clear blue sky, I found a red one at Walmart. I couldn't believe it. It was just there on the shelf.

It was the female version of the red one, so I was going to need another Barbie head. I decided to get the one with blue hair, because, after all, we were going for red, white, and blue.

Here's the whole group.

What do you think? Do I need to put them in red, white, and blue order, or is it fine with the girls on the outside and guy in the middle?

Oh, guess what happened a few hours after I took this photo. I stopped into Five Below on my way home from work, and they had the red one there as well!

I was so irritated. I'd just paid full price for one at Walmart, when I could have got this one for $5. I had been thinking that it was nice to only pay full price instead of double price like they were asking on eBay, but half price would have been even better.

It was okay, though. I bought the Five Below one, went home and dug my receipt out of the garbage can, and returned the full price one to Walmart. So, I got the best price int the end, and constructed my team as well. Go America. Red, White, and Blue!

The First Of May

What y'all doing to celebrate the first of May? The weather is perfect here for the traditional celebration.

Now's the time for all the people to get together...outside.

30-Day Carnivore Challenge Finale! Marshal And I Complete The Challenge, Who Wins??

Marshal and I made it to the very end of the 30-Day Carnivore Challenge. Did we stay true to the end? Did one of us totally blow it right before we got there? Who wins the challenge and gets to claim the action figure prize? Find out in the very exciting conclusion to The 30-Day Carnivore Challenge!

Biker Scouts!

Okay, damn, I'm so out of control. I told you about how I was thinking about getting the Batcycle and the uh, Catcycle in a previous post, and how I assumed they would probably wind up on clearance. I guess I couldn't wait that long, because I bought both of them already.

I justified paying full price by saving my receipt so that I could return them and get them for cheaper if they ever did go on clearance. Last time I tried that, it didn't work, though.

I don't much like the mud spatter that they put all over the Batcycle.

I think I'm going to have to get out my paint brushes and get rid of that garbage. I can do much better weathering than that.

I'm not a fan of what they did to the figures either. Those stupid scratch marks or battle damage or whatever it's supposed to be is not impressive at all. It just looks bad.

I thought it would be super easy to get off, though. I've seen tons of people put acetone onto unwanted paint on their figures and just rub it right off, but no matter how I scrubbed at it, the paint remained on Catwoman's leg.

I guess I may have to see if I can't match the paint and just paint over it or something. Not cool. I didn't want to have to deal with that.

Worse yet, my compulsion convinced me to buy these at full price when I was willing to bet that they would be on sale in a month or two. I wonder if my overeating compulsion has just been replaced by a toy buying compulsion.

Now that I'm eating carnivore, I don't get the usual flood of endorphins from my food like I used to. If I've just replaced one problem with another, though, that's not a positive thing. I need to get endorphins from something good like exercise or maybe creative processes like writing and...heck, repainting and customizing toys.

I have stacks of stuff that I wanted to repaint or customize in some way. I need to find a way to throw myself into that, because I know from past experience that finishing up those kind of things gives a lot of endorphins as well.

The question is, how do I make myself do it?
