True Colors

In an earlier post, I talked about how I was trying to get three Halo figures wearing the three colors of the American flag to do as a Fourth of July decoration. But then I talked about how I was afraid that I'd ruined my Scarlett Johansen head by putting streaks in her hair with a Sharpie.

I just really hated the way it looked. And there was no getting it off either. Sharpies don't wipe away, they're permanent ink.

So, I had a new idea of what to do with her head. These Halo figures are twelve inches tall, know what else is? Barbies! I decided to try putting a Barbie head on instead, and to tell you the truth, I really like it.

Has Barbie ever looked so badass?

Well, that solved the head problem, but I still had to get me a figure in red armor, because the thing wouldn't work if it wasn't red, white, and blue.

Well, every time I went anywhere that had these figures, I checked for a red one. I always only found other white or blue ones...not to mention the green Master Chief ones. They were the most common.

I looked on eBay, but everyone wanted at least double the original price of the things for a red one. This was supposed to be a cheap thing, though adding new heads was making it more expensive.

Then, out of the clear blue sky, I found a red one at Walmart. I couldn't believe it. It was just there on the shelf.

It was the female version of the red one, so I was going to need another Barbie head. I decided to get the one with blue hair, because, after all, we were going for red, white, and blue.

Here's the whole group.

What do you think? Do I need to put them in red, white, and blue order, or is it fine with the girls on the outside and guy in the middle?

Oh, guess what happened a few hours after I took this photo. I stopped into Five Below on my way home from work, and they had the red one there as well!

I was so irritated. I'd just paid full price for one at Walmart, when I could have got this one for $5. I had been thinking that it was nice to only pay full price instead of double price like they were asking on eBay, but half price would have been even better.

It was okay, though. I bought the Five Below one, went home and dug my receipt out of the garbage can, and returned the full price one to Walmart. So, I got the best price int the end, and constructed my team as well. Go America. Red, White, and Blue!
