Driving down the freeway this morning, I saw a billboard for a marathon that was coming up in June. A marathon has always been something I've wanted to participate in, but I've been afraid that I couldn't hack it.
Seeing this billboard got my adrenaline pumping like it hasn't ever done before for some reason, and by the time I got to work, I was ready to sign up. I talked to a co-worker who started training a few weeks ago for a June marathon, and he only made me more excited.
I called my sister, who has been running longer than me, and has already done a half-marathon, and was training for a full marathon when she hurt her foot last year, and asked her what she thought. She talked me down from the June ledge, suggesting a more prudent plan.
Since I haven't run much in the last two months, I needed a little more time to get into marathon shape. So, my sister suggested that we train for a half marathon in June, and then ramp up the training for the full marathon in September.
So, I looked up a local marathon that would be taking place in September, and we're set.
I am committed. It's been on my bucket list since I was in college, and this year I will achieve it.
I am running my first marathon on September 14th.

You're a better man than I Big. I stopped after the half-marathon. But you bet your sweet bippy that the 13.1 magnet is on my truck. Do it Big. It's something to be truly proud of.
Great plan to run the half in June and the full in Sept. Your sis gave good advice.
