Anklecast 25

It was a hard month, with a lot of setbacks. I did still manage to accomplish a few things, and I also got motivated. I'm going to turn April into the best month ever. Just you wait and see...oh, and enjoy the show.

Music was "Crossing The Divide" courtesy of Kevin MacLeod of Incompetech.com.

That inspirational montage you play at the end of the show is pretty darn great. Stirring. I'm gonna ask you how it came about for the next episode of your show.

I don't see a huge amount of daily updates on here, though. Your comments are waiting, so . . .

Okay, first of all, I want to say that I'm not making excuses. Things are going to happen, but I'm not going to let them deter me. I might have been a little optimistic about how last weekend was going to treat me.

4/3: The first morning after I posted the podcast, I was home in the morning watching the 3-year-old. I got up at 6:30 to do my writing, but then, so did he. Unfortunately, he doesn't just let me sit and write. So, the morning didn't work out for me. I had to work an evening shift, and didn't get home until very late, so 4/3 was a bust.

4/4: Saturday. I should have gotten up earlier but I didn't. Therefore, I missed my window. I had promised my daughter that we would start running together this morning, so we did that, and then only had about 30 minutes before we had to head out the door to the local Easter egg hunt. Then it was to my sister's house for a family Easter thing, and finally, we came home, and I had to go to bed earlier, because I had to work 3am on Sunday morning.

4/5: This day was general suck. Waking up at 2am always destroys any possibility of productivity. And, being Easter to boot, I had to put together some kind of Bunny-type things for the kids. So, nothing worked out.

4/6: I wanted to, but couldn't get out of bed at 6:30. Yesterday's early morning work day really used me up. Tonight, I will try to squeak in some writing, and then start into the early morning thing tomorrow.

I can do it, I'm sure of it. I believe in myself.

Big, you CAN do it. Of course you can. Tell you what, if you finish Sonny and Gray I will produce your David Bowie story for the Dunesteef. Like you, I've wanted to do it, but, with my own podcast, etc., I just felt like I don't have the time, If you make the time for writing, I will make the time for producing your story. Sound good?

Okay, Marshal, it's a deal.

As for the report, 4/6: I wrote some last night. Only 265 words. My daughter was using the computer, so I tried writing on my tablet with the keyboard that it came with, but for some reason, it was going really slowly. I would type, and it would add a character every few seconds or so, so it would take a minute for a sentence that I typed to actually show up on screen. This has never happened before, but the tablet is getting pretty old, and I think the google docs program got updated on me, which is probably behind the sudden slow down. Bummer, because that's almost the last reason I had for ever using the tablet any more. Soon, I suppose, it'll be a $250 paperweight. But who uses paper any more anyway?

How did the writing go last week, Big?

I'm afraid to say that it went terrible. Last week was spring break for my family. I took several days off to be with the family. But my wife had plans. What we wound up doing was working from dawn till dusk for pretty much every day of the week at putting a flagstone patio in our backyard. At the end of the day I was so tired that I didn't even consider writing. To give you an idea, I wear this Jawbone Up band, which is a bracelet that counts your steps for you each day. Up until now, my record was something like 14,000 or so. And that when I did really long walks. But on the worst day of working on this patio, I hit 20,000 steps. And it was all done without ever leaving my yard. And worse, I took all those steps while pushing a wheelbarrow full of dirt or sand or while carrying rocks that weighed sometimes as much as 50 lbs.

So, last week was another bust. But it's okay. I'm not giving up. I'm going to get back into the swing of things. Hopefully I can start tomorrow. I can do it!
