Weigh-In Day #5 and Daily Food Report #14

Hey, everybody, it's weigh-in day again. Last week, I had astounding success with ten friggin' pounds lost in one single week. How did this week go? Well, first, I've got to do my daily report, then we can get to the results.

For breakfast, ran out of chopped onions, green peppers and mushrooms, so: two eggs, slice of ham, slice of cheese, (oh, and one little piece of sweet and sour chicken left over from the Chinese food the fam had the night before):

Snack #1 - apple, nuts, cheese:

Lunch - leftover steak strips, salad, nuts:

Snack #2 -  Mango, cheese, nuts:

Dinner - More steak strips, the remains of my salad, and nuts:

Also, not pictured here, I ate about six saltine crackers when I got home.  All the sickies at my house were eating them, so I did too.  I should have skipped that though.

So, now, how did the week go?  Well, this is what I weighed this morning:

Yeah, that's the same that I weighed on Wednesday of last week.  I lost absolutely nothing after this long week of reporting my food to you every day and so forth.  So, WTF?

I don't know.  I'd be lying if I said this didn't deter me.  I feel like Sisyphus rolling the boulder for no purpose whatsoever.  It sucks when you try really hard at something and achieve nothing in the end.

It makes me think of my favorite Reel Big Fish song (P.S. - NSFW):

But is it that bad?  I knew I wouldn't be losing ten pounds again this week.  Often when you have a big week, the next week is a kind of bounce-back week where your results are more closer to realistic expectations.

So, unlike the Reel Big Fish song, I'm not quitting.  I won't say, "I don't fucking care anymore," despite the temptation to do so.  We'll see how it goes next week.  Maybe it'll be a big week again.

Also, I probably need to stop the little cheats.  After all, I had this pizza:

And this pizza too:

And this pizza too:

And this cheeseburger:

And this cookie dough:

As well as this cookie:

And more besides that too. I guess I better quit that crap. It all seems little when you only do it once a day, but you add it all up, and it seems like a lot more in the end.

That, and I need to get going on the exercise.  I haven't been doing any, and I'm sure it would certainly help.  Besides, I'm supposed to do a marathon this year, and if I don't get started, I'm not going to be ready in time.

Frustrating. But your weight can vary by a couple of pounds naturally from day to day. I bet you see another decent loss by next week. Are you calorie counting? Go too low under your basic calorie needs and your body enters starvation plateau and weight loss freezes

I've been both dreading and looking forward to the check-in today. I don't want to say I am glad you didn't lose anything...but...I'm glad you didn't beat me by a million pounds. I gained 0.2 pounds this week. Why? I have no idea. I have met my calorie goals every day, and even with taking my kids to the movies and getting popcorn and M&Ms (I only ate about a handful of those, and maybe a cup or two of the popcorn) I hadn't gained anything (or lost) by Monday. Ok, not so encouraging but at least it wasn't a gain. I was really good, went running on Sunday and Monday nights, got a total of about 6 miles in for the week (and hit 30 miles for the year, so I'm 10% of my way to my goal!), did yoga and crunches and more strength type stuff... and stepped on the scale this morning to a gain. I don't understand.

I did take measurements this morning, which made me feel a little better. I did lose about 1/2" to 1" on my belly, hips, and ribcage and bustline in the past few weeks, and I feel stronger. The 0.2 pound gain is bothersome but I will NOT let it win. Maybe it's because I've gained muscle, maybe I just had to poop. I don't know. This is a new week. I will make it count.

I lost this week. :) Percentages: 0.29% weight loss for the week. 1.26% overall. Not a huge loss, but I am happy to be going in the right direction. I'll be traveling next week, so I have to be amazingly good before I leave.
